In August of 2016, Southern Louisiana received more than 6 trillion gallons of rainwater in less than one week. Considered a 500-year flood event, it is the largest natural disaster in the US since hurricane Sandy. More than 100,000 homes have been destroyed, 13 are dead, and hundreds of thousands are impacted across 12 parishes in the region.
I Dreamt Last Night, with the help of Propeller and Music for Relief, organized the creation of the #LouisianaStrong flood relief campaign and distributed aid directly to local charities providing disaster relief across Southern Louisiana. With help from various artists, festival organizers, and music industry executives, we are providing necessary disaster relief to victims who have lost everything.
Those that donated to support relief efforts were offered a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences to meet Blink-182, attend a taping of Saturday Night Live, catch sets from The Stones, Paul McCartney and more at Desert Trip, hang out with The Chainsmokers at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, or jet in style to III Points Festival and meet Thievery Corporation.
All donors also received a free download of the 18-track #LouisianaStrong Download to Donate compilation featuring unreleased tracks including Bassnectar’s 2015 remix of Roustabout by Beats Antique, legendary turntablist Z-Trip’s original collaboration with Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto, and Reed Mathis’ new Electric Beethoven project featuring Matt Chamberlain of Critters Buggin and Mike Dillon of Les Claypool’s Fancy Band courtesy of the Royal Potato Family and many more.
